06:51 pm: New Study on the Future of Online Gambling
New MECN report and survey expect casual gaming and gambling to grow from currently USD 500 million to USD 1 billion in 2010.

The consulting firm MECN’s new study “Casual Gaming and Gambling in the Internet” analyzes some of the hottest topics in the industry -- skill gaming, online casinos and online bingo, and fantasy sports. The study includes the results of a survey MECN conducted among more than 60 industry experts who offered their unique insights and assessments.

The recent weeks were the toughest for the private online gambling industry ever: an online gambling prohibition bill (Goodlatte/Leach Bill) passed the US House of Representatives and has a chance to be passed by the Senate also; the CEO of online sportsbook BetonSports was arrested by the FBI; high courts in Germany limited the validity of private betting licenses, … just to name a few of recent blows that shook the industry. It is particularly the rapid succession of these events in just a few short weeks that shocked the industry

But some operators had already started to think about alternative revenue sources in case gambling would face tougher restrictions, and previous growth sectors, such as online poker and betting exchanges, would mature. According to many experts, casual gaming and gambling, which includes skill gaming, online bingo, and fantasy sports, represents such an alternative. Although some of the casual gaming and gambling offers have already been in existence for several years, the industry has only recently begun to focus on them. “It is astonishing at what speed this industry is currently moving,” explains Martin Oelbermann, coauthor of the study. ”We can see, for example, on a weekly base high caliber companies and investors, such as media giants Liberty or Burda, as well as Betfair’s founders getting involved.”

Millions of casual gamers, especially women, are waiting for attractive offers
The main reason for the increased interest are the millions of potential casual gamers and gamblers not yet targeted by the industry. As the market for heavy punters and gamblers becomes more and more saturated, the industry now begins to focus on casual gamers and gamblers and especially on women.

Casual gaming as attractive product option as legislation concerning online gambling becomes more complex
Another reason for the growing relevance of the casual sector is that the legislation regarding gambling is getting more and more complex everywhere and forces state lotteries as well as private companies to look for alternative products to their traditional gambling offerings. For example, in accordance with European court decisions, some state lotteries (such as Dutch De Lotto and German WestLotto) now have to decrease their marketing and expansion efforts for sports betting. Casual gaming could be an attractive alternative revenue source for them. As Martin Oelbermann adds, “Especially the legally less problematic skill gaming sector, including online versions of various card and board games, must become a consideration in many strategic discussions at state lotteries as one of the key future growth options.”

02:32 pm: First Gambling Newsmaster on the Internet
Mitch Redmond, a founding member of The Casino Gambling Web, explains how his site is the internet's first ever Newsmaster website. A visitor would have to subscibe to thousands of feeds in order to get what the CasinoGamblingWeb.com gives you in one, says Redmond.

Almost twenty new gambling related websites are created every day, adding to the thousands that already exist on the web.

can use our poker feed and have relevant and interesting content about poker always updating on their website for their visitors.
So what is the big news about one more newly released casino gambling website?

As Mitch Redmond, founding member of CasinoGamblingWeb.com insists, the big news is that his site is the first 'Newsmaster' website in the world.

"We are not a website with webmasters," says Redmond, "we are a news-site with News-masters.

We think of ourselves as watchers of the news, experts in the gambling industry. We exist solely to provide one reliable news source that covers all interesting gambling related headlines."

The Casino Gambling Web (CGW) features six different RSS news feeds covering five categories of gambling. They have a feed for Vegas, Atlantic City, Indian, and Gulf Coast casino news, a feed for everything related to poker, a feed for online casino news, a feed for sports gambling news, and a very unique feed dedicated to news about gambling laws. They also have one main feed that features the editors picks of the best news of all their feeds.

"If a visitor were to search the web for the news we feature in our feeds," says Redomnd, "they would have to subscribe to hundreds, if not thousands, of other feeds, watch them all day long, and sort through a heck of a lot of junk in the process. And even then they may not find all of the articles we feature."

Redmond and his staff strongly encourage visitors to subscribe to their feeds using either Yahoo or Google tools, and they have a detailed explanation on how to do this, in case you are new to the world of RSS (Really Simple Syndication).

Redmond also insists that other webmasters in the industry should use their RSS feeds in order to display content that is relevant to their own website.

"A website that is about poker, for instance," Redmond says, "can use our poker feed and have relevant and interesting content about poker always updating on their website for their visitors."

CGW also offers a guide to the best casino bonuses, a guide for new online gamblers, a guide to the hottest online poker tournaments, information on sports betting, details about gambling law, and more gambling related content.

There may be other sites on the internet that watch the news all day long, but this is the first to give a name to what they do. As Mitch Redmond insists, they are the world's first Newsmasters.

06:01 pm: Online poker Room Sent 3 Players to The WPT Grand Prix de Paris
Everest Poker sent three players to Paris to compete in the Grand Prix de Paris, one of the stops on the World Poker Tour:

Thanks to Everest Poker for letting us live our dream!
Asheru (France)
abbas23 (Germany)
gabatch (France)

All three players were winners in Everest Poker's Direct Entry Satellite for the WPT Grand Prix de Paris. Each player earned a prize package which included the 10,000€ buy-in for the event, as well as $800 in spending money.

abbas23 was eliminated in the first round, but both Asheru and gabatch played skillfully enough to advance. With 140 players battling to start the second round, Asheru found himself out of the tournament after moving all-in with a pair of Aces, beaten by three Kings.

gabatch, meanwhile, managed to hang in and found himself in 28th place near the end of the day. With the top 27 players finishing in the money, gabatch was on the bubble, needing to survive one more elimination in order to walk away with guaranteed prize money. After moving all-in with a pair of Kings, gabatch also fell victim to bad luck, losing to a flush on the river.

Despite the turn of events, gabatch remained cheerful and gracious, remarking, "Thanks to Everest Poker for letting us live our dream!"

"Our players' competitive level just keeps improving," said Sandrine Dubois, Everest Poker's French Marketing Manager. "They're starting to become a force on the live tournament circuit, and we look forward to having one of them win the Grand Prix de Paris someday!"

For more details and photos of the Grand Prix de Paris, visit the Everest Poker Blog at www.everestpokerblog.com

Everest Poker is also currently featuring satellite tournaments for the following events:

• The Everest Poker European Championship, an exclusive Everest Poker event taking place September 9, 2006.

• The World Series of Poker Main Event, taking place July 28 – August 10, 2006, at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

• The Legends of Poker, a World Poker Tour event taking place August 26-30, 2006, at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California.

08:04 pm: Online Casino Gamblers Select The “Craziest TV Dad”
Think your dad is crazy? Not compared to these fathers. A survey of 100,000 U.S. members of Casino Fortune, the oldest online casino, revealed Homer Simpson as the “Craziest TV Dad”. Sixty-Seven wild TV fathers, nearly all from sitcoms, were nominated, and 20 of those were voted onto the Craziest TV Dad list.

Members cited Homer's regular strangling of son Bart; his forgetfulness of his children's name; and general wackiness as reasons for picking the Simpson dad. Bill Cosby's Cliff Huxtable came in number two due to his wild antics, and crotchety shoe salesman Al Bundy made #3 on the list.

Other crotchety fathers made the list as well, including Archie Bunker, Frank Barone and Martin Krane. Actor Jerry Stiller made the list twice for his portrayals of cantankerous dads: As Frank Constanza on Seinfeld and again as Arthur Spooner on King of Queens. Besides for Homer, three other animated fathers were voted in by the online gamblers: Fred Flintstone, Peter Griffin of Family Guy and Stan Smith of American Dad. The latter two are both voiced by Seth MacFarlane. A fourth animated father, Robert Freeman from the new show Boondocks, barely missed the top 20, placing #23 on the list.

“Everybody has a different idea of what crazy means,” says CEO John Wallis, “so we received a very diverse group of dads.”

“Of course, most of our members told us their dad was crazier than anything they’d seen on TV.”

CasinoFortune.com’s Craziest TV Dad list was picked by polling members for nominations and then having them vote on the 67 nominated fathers. The top 20 dads, as determined by their votes, are listed below.

1. Homer Simpson – The Simpsons
2. Cliff Huxtable - The Cosby Show
3. Al Bundy - Married with Children
4. Archie Bunker - All in the Family
5. Ozzy Osbourne - The Osbournes
6. Tony Soprano – The Sopranos
7. Frank Barone - Everybody Loves Raymond
8. Tim Taylor - Home Improvement
9. Peter Griffin - Family Guy
10. Bernie Mac - The Bernie Mac Show
11. Frank Costanza - Seinfeld
12. Fred Flintstone – The Flintstones
13. Martin Crane - Frasier
14. Arthur Spooner - King of Queens
15. Hal - Malcolm in the Middle
16. Gomez Addams - The Addams Family
17. Dan Conner - Roseanne
18. Stan Smith - American Dad
19. Fred Sanford - Sanford & Son
20. Danny Tanner - Full House

08:45 pm: Monthly $100k Guaranteed Poker Tournaments New on the Internet
Online celebrity poker room CelebPoker.com is announcing the start of both their $100k monthly and $25k weekly poker tournaments. CelebPoker.com has launched many new summer promotions available to new and existing players including more cash guarantees on their online tournaments.

Like many of the major poker tournaments taking place in casinos and on television this summer Online poker room CelebPoker.com has announced they will be hosting a $100k Poker Tournament online each month starting July 1st. The prize pool is guaranteed to be a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars no matter how many players are participating. This allows people interested in the tournament to justify the value of their buy-in before ever spending a cent.

This tournament is a great way for players to gain major tournament experience for a fraction of the cost and eliminates the travel and lodging expense associated with all land based events. As the 2006 World Series of Poker draws closer many online hopefuls are looking for alternate events to participate in, online, with a massive guaranteed prize pool like the CelebPoker.com Monthly $100k Guarantee.

Along with these monthly tournaments there will be a weekly $25,000 guaranteed game taking place starting in July. The games are more frequent and will allow players the option of being involved in a large cash game every week! The structure will be set much like the larger $100k monthly game but will give players the options of when is the best time for them to toss the chips for cash.

“These events were designed to give poker players the chance and experience of participating in major tournaments online every month and even every week if they choose” commented CelebPoker.com Marketing Director Greg Powell. “We are under the impression that the players should choose their style of game and we are there to provide them the most fun and secure place to participate.”

For an affordable method of participation there are online ‘satellite’ events scheduled daily. The day of registration for the $100k Guarantee is set at $120+10 and is a great value at that buy-in. However there are satellite tournaments running twice a day at an incredible $13+1 registration. These are the least expensive events online enabling you to participate in a major poker tournament online. The weekly $25,000 games will feature quick draw satellites every day as well. With a buy-in of only $5+1 there is no reason for a player not to take advantage of the value and experience. The buy-in for players looking to place themselves directly into the $25k weekly is a modest $40+4

03:32 pm: Onilne Gambling Island Becomes the Biggest Virtual Real Estate Deal
Wager Island becomes the largest "virtual real estate" transaction reported to date. Wager Island is an online gaming package designed to capture a gambling niche in the multi-billion dollar online gaming industry. Rather than traditional casino games and online poker, Wager Island offers alternative online gaming in a fantasy socio-economic island environment.

First International Holdings Limited (FIH) of Dominica made history March 15, 2006 with the largest purchase of virtual real estate ever recorded.

FIH purchased a virtual island online-gaming-package from an Irish software development firm and turned it into Wager Island. The lease was reported to be for 320,000 USD with the developers retaining an undisclosed percentage of revenue from the virtual island’s future profits.

In a gaming market saturated with casino and poker games, Wager Island aims to reinvigorate what FIH labels as an “industry ready for fresh online gaming experiences.”

Wager Island is unique in the respect that players can bet on its virtual real estate market, fantasy stock exchange and make believe gold mining industry. Games will continue to be added as the island grows.

Furthermore, players can opt to become involved in the island’s political structure which include 6 party factions that influence law and regulations on the island. A Wager Island virtual media network also allows players to stay abreast of current events to make better informed wagers.

FIH lists other "neoteric or alternative online gaming" successes such as Entropia, a company out of Sweden that develops virtual worlds it sells to “game masters”. The “game masters” then create simulated economies around these worlds that registered players exploit, trading real money for virtual money, as cited in several articles appearing on the BBC.

Rather than being a Multi-Player Role Playing Game or MPRPG, like Entropia, Wager Island is a interactive portal for virtual online gaming or online betting. But instead of traditional casino games and card games it focuses on aspects of what makes a society, economy and political structure tick, virtually.

Wager Island utilizes a number of payment systems from traditional credit card transactions to virtual currencies such as e-gold.

01:59 pm: Exclusive Sports Content for Online Sports Bettors
Eye On Gambling (EOG) is delighted to report that Russ Culver has agreed to provide EOG with
exclusive, free sports betting content. Under the arrangement, Culver will post sports gambling insight and tips including, but not limited to, picks throughout baseball season, and, ideally, he will extend into football as well.

"I'm impressed with the website, and I believe that building traffic with strong handicapping information while obtaining revenue from advertisers is the business model that works best for me," Culver says. "Readers should not have to pay for info or picks."

The baseball season is a natural starting point, since it is Culver's favorite sport. Baseball offers many more sports betting opportunities than football, Culver says. Although the MLB season has just started, teams have
already played more games than the NFL schedule.

Culver boasts an illustrious career as a bookmaker, oddsmaker and bettor. His résumé reflects sports-betting chops to kill for, and essentially speaks for itself. During his tenure in Vegas with positions at leading sports-betting companies, Culver was a familiar figure on radio shows, football contests, as a host on Internet handicapping forums and sports-betting seminars, and his analysis and picks were often mentioned in the local newspapers. With the pragmatic approach of a professional for whom "the numbers are the key," Culver doesn't necessarily like or dislike any team until he's scrutinized all the handicapping data and reached a decision. That decision is generally based on the use of power ratings. Contrary
to popular misconception, power ratings are not simply objective measurements, he stresses, but subjective tools for determining relative strengths and weaknesses. Implementing and weighting the elements of a
power-ratings system is very judgmental.

Handicapping is not a discipline for bettors who seek an easy way to find winning plays. Devising effective power ratings is a labor-intensive project. Culver starts fresh every year, throwing out history that isn't applicable.
Culver makes power ratings on all teams on which he bets, and when he finds a discrepancy between his assessment of a game and the oddsmaker's, then he has a potential play.

"It's all a numbers game," he says. "It's my numbers vs. the oddsmaker's."

10:40 am: Who will be the Chairman of Poker?
Timothy Poster and Tom Breitling, former owners of the Golden Nugget, and leads in The Casino reality show, will play in the CEO Poker event at The Palms, Oct 22-27, for the title of Chairman of Poker.

Poster and Breitling, the two 34 year old millionaires, revolutionized the travel industry by creating the “merchant model” for hotel and vacation packages reservations with Travelscape.com, and later sold it to expedia.com. Together, they turned the company into one of the largest consumer-direct hotel room wholesale distribution systems throughout the world.

CEO participants will have the opportunity to win the title of Chairman of Poker and a stylish Chairman of Poker ring that will be awarded to the winner of the championship tournament. The Palms Casino Resort & Maloof Productions produces Celebrity Poker on Bravo and is home of the Real Word Series in Vegas.

William Peraza, JR., CEO of CEOpoker, and Maria Gomez, co-founder and President of CEO Poker, natives of Miami, Florida, developed the concept of the CEO Poker event. Peraza and Gomez saw a need for an event that highlighted some of the most powerful CEOs in the US playing against one another in poker, in the best hotel in Vegas--The Palms Resort and Casino.

The Palms was chosen to host the prestigious event that will cater to over 200+ CEOs from the world of the Internet, Industry, real estate, and Fortune 500 companies, ready to face each other over the green felt of the poker table for the title of Chairman of Poker.

“We are excited to have Tim and Tom be a part of the event. They are great poker players and businessmen,” says Peraza. “This promises to be an exciting event with players from all over the world in attendance.”

Instead of networking on the golf greens, CEOs will compete over the green felt of the poker table at The Palms, in No Limit Texas Holdem. Poker is better than golf because it is a level playing field among men and women. Only your ability to bluff, fold, and win, separates the boys from the girls. Another reason poker is so popular among CEOs is the game itself. There is an element of constant danger that CEOs thrive on, where you can go out on any one hand.”

Instead of a new breed of golf players, a new breed of poker stars will be born at The Palms—day traders, dotcom millionaires, high powered women, online poker hotshots, and mathematical geniuses.

03:21 pm: a young high limit pro poker player published his first poker novel
"Broke: A Poker Novel" hits shelves today. Brandon Adams, a young high limit pro and author has published his first book. A gritty book based on the happenings in the world of high limit poker is sure to shock and entertain audiences.

Phil Hellmuth loved it, so you are a donkey if you do not love "Broke: A Poker Novel."

Brandon Adams' first published novel is filled with tales from the world of high limit poker. Mr. Adams is no stranger to high limit poker...

Brandon can be seen playing high limit poker around the internet as "wins_pot," and has appeared on television for his poker accomplishments. In the 2005 Tournament of Champions, Brandon knocked out Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson on his way to taking a bad beat which can be seen on one of the many ESPN replays.

Broke follows three talented young poker players as they seek fame and fortune amid a world fraught with addiction.

(from the book)

I’ve rediscovered my fascination with gambling addiction in the wake of Matt’s bust-out. You can’t be a poker player who doesn’t think about addiction. It’s like being an eighty-year old who doesn’t think about death. It’s staring you in the face all the time.

(about the book)

Forget Wall Street—America’s best and brightest now seek their fortune at the poker tables.

Raf Verheij is a twenty-five year old math prodigy who likes to think that his current situation is unique: poker pulled him out of a deep hole instead of leading him into one. Robert Thompson is a Phil Ivey-like talent with a gambling problem—a player who has an almost supernatural ability to read opponent’s hands by taking cues from their body language. And finally, there’s Matt Ingram, a grinder with a penchant for self-destruction.

The world of poker is fraught with dangers to one’s bankroll and mental health—a world where the individual has to worry less about the problems that others will cause him than the problems that he will cause for himself. Broke follows these three top young players in their high-stakes quest for poker fame and reveals just how addictive this world can be.

"Excellent, entertaining, and extremely well written...I couldn't stop reading!" -Phil Hellmuth, Poker Icon,
and author of the best selling Play Poker like the Pros

06:38 pm: New Online Roulette System
Limited copies of an affordable system that helps players curb their greed and win at online roulette is to be made available to the general public.

A new automated online casino system developed by the author of "How to win at online roulette," Samuel Blankson, promises to help roulette players curb their greed and beat the online casinos at their own game. The system, which runs on any PC with Microsoft Excel installed, allows a user to key in their online roulette results, whilst returning a displayed message of the next bet to place and with what value stake. "This keyed in result goes through a set of complex algorithms, and returns the next action the player should take to win", explains the author. The system is said to be so advanced that it automatically adapts to the random shifting patterns of any roulette game.

When asked why his system is different and effective, Mr Blankson replied, “Whilst roulette is a simple game to play, it is not so easy to consistently win at. This is not due to lack of a good system but rather it is due to a lack of discipline and control of greedy tendencies of the player. Casinos know this and exploit it by providing incentives that encourage players to stay inside the casino environment and continue to gamble. The longer most players gamble the easier it becomes for them to lose their self control and allow their tendency to be greedy to surface. A great loss normally ensues at this point and the casino wins. Any great gambling system must first seek to eliminate this problem before providing any sophisticated play strategy or technique.”

"The Ultimate Roulette System first removes the human decision process from the roulette game, thus allowing the player to avoid greed led decisions whilst using an automated rule based system to select the stake and bet." Mr Blankson went on to say, “I explained a system for daily roulette income generation in my last roulette book offering, but this computer based system takes the ideas in that book a lot further and literally does it for you.”

The system which retails around $250 is available through the gambling section of www.practicalbooks.org. This is subject to availability as the author is limiting the number of copies of this system to be made available to the general public.

Elite Media, Inc. announced today it is "going big" once again with the largest building wrap in the history of Las Vegas and currently the largest in North America. A 55,000 square foot building wrap will cover the South facing tower of the Stardust Resort & Casino for Samsung, during the CTIA convention in Las Vegas starting on April 5, 2006.

The building wrap for Samsung will occupy a prime location for the CTIA convention. The building wrap will be visible to the 47,000 convention attendees from the south-facing side of the Stardust Resort & Casino facing Las Vegas Boulevard.

This 55,000 square foot wrap is formed out of 350 individual panels to create a single large image. Each panel measures at 54" x 30' and is constructed out of a unique, weather-resistant "see-through" perforated material. Job installation will take approximately 60 hours and require 12 installers hanging from scaffolding off the 400 foot Stardust Resort & Casino facade.

Several other high-profile Elite Media locations will feature CTIA advertisers. Elite Media will showcase a 300' outdoor projection on the Palms Casino for Kyocera, a 30,000 square foot building wrap on the Marriott for LG, and a 5,500 square foot building wrap on the Renaissance for LG.

Intercasino is giving slots enthusiasts the chance to win a trip for two to Dublin and Top Gambler will add a night on the town for lucky winners.

Millions of people around the globe celebrate St Patrick's Day each year. The great thing about it is that you don't even need to be Irish. All you need to do is wear something green, eat green food and drink green beer. Most people probably don't even know the significance of the biggest party day in Ireland, but they get in on the action nonetheless.

To add something extra to this year's St Patrick's Day celebrations, leading online casino, Intercasino, has announced a very special online video slot called "Luck 'o The Irish". This is a 5 reel, 20 line video slot based on Cryptologic's award winning multi line video slot technology. But be aware, the game is only available between the days of March 13 and March 26. Players are invited to try the new game, and urged to do so before March 26. If they miss out, they will have to wait another year.

Intercasino has announced a great competition in conjunction with the introduction of the new game. Every player who manages to hit five Lucky Clover symbols on an active pay line will win a $3000 vacation to Dublin, Ireland. In addition to the main prize, Intercasino will conduct a draw on March 27, and every player who played the slot for real money will stand in line to win one of a host of special prizes, including cash bonuses.

Winners who do not wish to take the Dublin trip will be able have the cash deposited into their Intercasino account instead.

But, that is not all. Popular online casino portal Top Gambler is so excited about the competition that they are throwing in something extra. "We just love St Patrick's Day" said Ryan D, editor of Top Gambler. "Every year since I can remember, I have worn something green and celebrated St Patrick's day in a big way. One year I was lucky enough to be in Dublin on the day, and I can tell you that I had the party of a lifetime", Ryan added.

To prove how excited they are about this competition, Top Gambler will sponsor a night on the town to the value of $200, should any player who sign up to Intercasino via top-gambler.com hit the five clovers and win the Dublin trip. Players can visit Top Gambler for more information.
